Smackdown's Elimination Chamber was originally penned in to be a high-flying extravaganza to counter the arguably slower pace of Raw's WWE Championship match.
However, with two championship hopefuls carrying injuries and the wildly experienced by not quite so agile Undertaker all involved it might be a little slower than first thought.
World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match
Rey Mysterio
Usually the daredevil life and soul of any show-piece match, the master of the 619 has been the victim of a niggling knee injury for the past few months and delayed surgery at the end of 2009 in order to make an appearance at this year's WrestleMania, an event that he has failed to make an appearance at numerous times since his WWE debut.
This is sure to limit the risks Rey takes during the match and may be the reason the creative team don't give him the win.
Provided his knee holds up Rey looks likely to fill a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania.
John Morrison
Morrison is the other competitor currently carrying an injury, although how legitimate it is remains to be seen.
After pulling up following a flip in a match against R-Truth 8 days before the Elimination Chamber match, Morrison seemed to be in severe discomfort.
Regardless of whether the injury is real or scripted, Morrison is a distinct possibility to be replaced come the Elimination Chamber PPV, perhaps by a drafted member of the recently defunct ECW brand such as Christian or Ezekiel Jackson.
R-Truth
There can't be a single member of the WWE Universe who expects R-Truth to win this match.
He's in there purely to make up the numbers and to fit the blueprint originally created for a 'high flying' Chamber match, and his space could have been used much more effectively by someone else like C.M Punk's enforcer Luke Gallows or Dolph Ziggler.
C.M Punk
The last time C.M Punk had the World Heavyweight Championship he dropped it to The Undertaker in a rather embarrassing opener at Hell in a Cell.
Whether he has a chance or not in this match ultimately hinges on whether the 'powers that be' think Punk has served his time for upsetting people behind the scenes.
The Straight Edge Society is growing well as a heel faction and the World title isn't really a necessity for this to continue, so it doesn't seem like the writers have a title run pencilled in for Punk in the near future.
Chris Jericho
Jericho has slipped under the radar somewhat for this match, spending a lot of the build-up arguing with former tag-team partner and Royal Rumble winner Edge.
However, this could be the key to his victory here.
Ever since Edge became sidelined with a possible career-threatening injury the WWE Creative team began planting seeds for an eventual rivalry between the two, and WrestleMania was their first choice to stage it.
Even up until a few weeks before the Royal Rumble Edge's return wasn't a certainty but now the Rated R Superstar is back there doesn't seem to be anything stopping the former partners tearing lumps out of each other for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania....
The Undertaker
...apart from this man.
Taker has done pretty much everything in his WWE career and with knee troubles limiting his working schedule it can only be a matter of time before he has to hang up his trenchcoat for good.
So what better way for a true legend to exit the company than a title defence at the biggest Pay Per View of the year, a Pay Per View that he has never lost at during his illustrious career.
That being said, the WWE have teased a HBK Vs. Undertaker 2 match an awful lot since December and that wouldn't require the World Championship in order to be an epic match.
Predictions for the World Heavyweight Championship Match at Elimination Chamber 2010
This match should be easier to call than Raw's WWE Championship Match, as there are contenders such as R-Truth that can easily be ruled out.
Jericho or Taker look most likely to walk away from the Scottrade Centre with the title belt and if this year's WrestleMania is going to be truly epic a win for Jericho would probably be the best outcome.
