Since bursting onto ECW as part of the New Talent Initiative Sheamus has made it well known that he loves nothing better than to flatten anyone in his path, by cheating if necessary.
However, by choosing Triple H as an opponent for what could be the biggest match of his young career so far could have been a step too far for the new fighting Irishman.
Triple H Costs Sheamus the WWE Championship
Up until just over a month before WrestleMania XXVI Triple H and Sheamus had never seriously crossed paths and it wasn’t until the two appeared in the same Elimination Chamber match that animosity between the two began to grow.
Triple H eliminated the then champion Sheamus, effectively being the individual to cost him his title, despite not being the one to go on and claim victory and the gold.
Following the Elimination Chamber Sheamus lost the chance of a re-match due to John Cena being declared the #1 contender, meaning the Celtic Warrior had nothing better to do than exact revenge against the person he considered to have taken his title away.
Triple H Gives Sheamus a Warning
Upon turning his attention to Triple H, Sheamus began a series of calculated attacks that even The Game would have been proud of.
He challenged the 13 time World Champion but before Triple H accepted he issued a warning to the young rookie, referencing his own experience at WrestleMania 12 when he challenged The Ultimate Warrior and lost in one of the most one-sided bouts ever to grace the grandest stage of them all.
He told Sheamus that if he was to pick up the win, it could easily set him up to be one of the most successful Superstars of all time, but if he lost it would likely set him back years, as it did when he lost to Warrior.
What to Expect from Triple H Vs. Sheamus at WrestleMania XXVI
Triple H and Sheamus are actually training partners behind the scenes, so despite only meeting a handful of times in the ring should click very well.
Triple H was also one of the people pulling for Sheamus to receive the huge push he got towards the end of 2009/start of 2010, so there is a big chance that this could be a ‘torch passing’ of sorts, and not the squash match a lot of people are expecting.
Prediction: Sheamus to pick up an underhanded victory but Triple H to get the last word with a Pedigree.
