At the 22nd Annual SummerSlam DX reform to take on Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase of Legacy, John Cena faces Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, Jack Swagger and M.V.P get the chance to settle their differences and Christian defends his ECW Championship against William Regal.
Christian (c) Vs. William Regal for the ECW Championship
Regal was only announced as the #1 contender for the ECW Championship 2 weeks before SummerSlam, but it didn't take the British Dignitary long to make an impact.
Rather than focusing on Christian directly, Regal chose to take out his friend Tommy Dreamer by first beating him in a match then brutally attacking him backstage with the help of Vladimir Kozlov.
Just 5 days before SummerSlam Regal seemingly enlisted the help of Ezekiel Jackson, who turned on Christian as the two were teaming up.
Christian and Regal have the credentials to put on a good match and fans will no doubt be pleased to see someone other than Tommy Dreamer and Jack Swagger challenging for the ECW gold.
Prediction: Regal to enlist the help of Jackson and Kozlov again, but still fail to grab the title belt.
Jack Swagger Vs. M.V.P
Shortly after being drafted to Raw in the 2009 Roster Draft it looked like M.V.P might be destined for a WWE Championship match in the near future, getting in Randy Orton's face the first night he appeared as a Red Brand Superstar.
However, since then Raw's highest paid athlete has been sidetracked by former ECW Champion and All-American American; Jack Swagger.
Swagger has continually interfered in M.V.P's business, even dredging up his less than desirable past while avoiding facing him in the ring at any cost.
This certainly isn't the most hyped match on the card, but given the chance these two guys have what it takes to impress the crowd as long as they are able to gel.
Prediction: Swagger to get the win in an underhanded fashion.
D-Generation X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) Vs. Legacy (Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase)
Despite the fact this is probably the 3rd or 4th time DX have re-formed in the past couple of years, there is no denying that the fans still completely love them.
Triple H has been embroiled in a feud with Randy Orton and his Legacy for the best part of 8 months, having varied success when coming up against The Legend Killer in the ring.
Finally The Game realised he had to start at the bottom and take out Orton's henchmen; DiBiase and Rhodes.
It came as no surprise that Shawn Michaels was the one he turned to for help, as HBK has been plastered all over SummerSlam posters since Night of Champions leading everyone to believe his return was imminent.
Priceless were able to grab a distinct advantage just 6 days before SummerSlam, attacking DX during their big return and leaving them down and out in the ring.
Prediction: DX to destroy Legacy and perhaps challenge for the Tag Titles soon.
John Cena Vs. Randy Orton (c) for the WWE Championship
When Shaquille O'Neal announced there would be a Beat the Clock Challenge to determine the #1 contender for Randy Orton's WWE Championship, it was a real opportunity to give the fans something fresh and new.
However, rather than giving M.V.P or Mark Henry the chance to main event, the writing team decided to go with the tried (or should that be tired) and tested Orton Vs. Cena match.
Orton and Cena had a very intense rivalry in 2007, during which time Orton attacked Cena's father. During that feud they met in the SummerSlam and Unforgiven main events, where both men picked up victories but Cena retained the WWE Championship on both occasions.
Despite being nothing new, it should still be a pretty good match although it seems unlikely that Cena will be the one to finally end Orton's extended run as the WWE Champion.
Prediction: Orton to retain the title.
